This delightful detached property has, in more recent years, been both extended and improved, the result of which is a most desirable family home offering extensive and flexible accommodation. The ground floor includes five reception rooms, some of which interlink creating fantastic entertaining space. Centring around a spacious reception hall, a room in itself, this links directly with a separate formal dining room and large kitchen/dining room. The principal reception room opens through to a separate music room and is particularly spacious with a sandstone open fireplace housing a wood burning stove. Extensive glazing ensure the grounds can be appreciated as much from inside as out. A separate snug is immediately adjacent to the music room, complete with a brick built open fireplace. In addition there is a separate and discretely positioned study. Upstairs all five bedrooms are of good proportions including a spacious master bedroom with ensuite bathroom together with a family bathroom.
Set well back from the lane a cattle grid with both vehicular and pedestrian gates open onto extensive driveway parking and turning, and which lead to the property and also a detached oak framed double garage discretely positioned in one corner. A useful studio room can be found above the garage approached via an external staircase and which could be utilised in a variety of ancillary manners. In addition there is a detached stable block with two stables and tack room also enjoying a tucked away position within the curtilage. The gardens are a real delight extending all around the property laid principally to lawn and encompassing a lovely natural fed pond providing a delightful backdrop as does the mixed and mature planting creating all year round colour and interest. Extensive terraces wrap themselves around the property from where lovely views can be enjoyed over the garden and the surrounds.
Please note that new carpets were laid approximately 12 months ago prior to the current advertised photographs.
Living in Burley
The first Spencers New Forest office was established here in Burley, a honeypot village that feels untouched by time with its traditional cafes, cider farm, gift shops and tales of old smuggling routes, witches and dragons.
This is the New Forest on holiday as imagined by visitors: quaint and old-fashioned with ponies wandering down the high street. In Burley there’s a perpetual feeling of having escaped, that you are away from it all, especially as it is tucked in the lee of wooded slopes.
In fact Burley has easy access to the A31 (across heathland with spectacular views) and routes west to Bournemouth and east to Southampton, while the mainline station at Brockenhurst is only a short drive away across the Forest.
There’s a lovely sense of community in Burley and it is noticeable that once people move here many are reluctant to move out of the area. A range of activities to enjoy locally includes cycling, horse riding, coarse fishing and Burley Golf Club with a nine-hole heathland course.
The property market is dominated by picturesque thatched cottages and large country homes that feel discreetly hidden away, many with access to open Forest.
