This period ground floor apartment is ideally positioned close to the High Street with a pretty walled garden. All the amenities of the Georgian market town, including doctor’s surgery and chemist, library, church and community centre are close by. The beautiful town of Lymington, with its cosmopolitan shopping and picturesque harbour, has two large deep water marinas and yachting and sailing clubs, for which the town has gained it’s status as a world renowned sailing resort. On Saturday, a market is held in the High Street, the origins of which probably date back to the 13th century.

To the north are the New Forest villages of Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst and Junction 1 of the M27 which links to the M3 for access to London. There is also a branch line train link to Brockenhurst Railway Station (approx. 5.5 miles) which provides a half hourly service to London Waterloo with a journey time of approximately 90 minutes.

The walled garden is perhaps one of the prettiest we have seen for a while. There are numerous colourful plantings, ferns, bushes, roses, foxgloves and shrubbs providing both shade and privacy. To the back of the garden there is a sun drenched patio, wooden garden shed, and a low wall with further plantings that leads to the kitchen. From the sun room there is side access that leads to the front of the house via a wooden gate. This space also provides a perfect area for a potting shed or bike storage.

On entering the property you are welcomed into a light and airy hallway with ample space for coats/shoes. Door through to the spacious living room with an attractive bay window, high ceilings, decorative coving and a feature fire place offering a lovely focal point to the room. An inner hallway leads through to the master bedroom again with high ceilings. garden views, a feature fireplace with marble surround and attractive coving and picture rail. The hallway continues with a cloakroom and door through to the kitchen/breakfast room. This is light and bright room with high ceilings, a large Georgian sash window, door to the side garden, wooden floors and a range of fitted cupboard units and work tops. There is a fitted electric oven with gas hob and extractor, integrated dish washer, integrated fridge freezer and plumbing for a washing machine. In addition there is a large store cupboard and ample space for a breakfast table. The inner hallway continues off the kitchen leading to a modern white bathroom suite and in to the impressive vaulted rear bedroom with wooden floors. This room is multi functional and can be used not only as a bedroom but as a separate reception room or home office. There are double French doors to the garden plus side access to the porch which in turn opens in to the garden to the rear and provides side access to the front via a side gate.

Living in Lymington

This vibrant and picturesque Georgian market town, positioned between the Solent, Lymington River and the New Forest, has been a massive draw for many people over the years.

It has always attracted ‘yachties’ as it’s considered the UK’s sailing capital with its boatyards, marinas and sailing clubs. It is also popular with families and retirees escaping London and the Home Counties in search of a better quality of life, often light-heartedly referred to as ‘Richmond by the Sea’. It’s also the choice for many in the New Forest who are considering downsizing, but want to remain in the area.

Lymington is a lively hub. It has a very distinctive centre with many independents (such as Elliotts of Lymington for designer fashion) as well as a strong smattering of top quality names (including Musto and Waitrose). A tasty range of eateries includes cafes, pubs and restaurants – check out two good tapas bars, Elderflower on Quay Hill (the chef is ex-Chewton Glen) and stylish Stanwells House Hotel. And every Saturday the High Street is taken over by a proper, old-fashioned market with everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to flowers and plants, fashion to fishing equipment, and vintage collectables to artisan food producers.

Property ranges from elegant period townhouses in the town centre to big family homes down leafy lanes ‘South of the High Street’ and new waterside development. Looking for an Estate Agent in Lymington? Spencers are here to help.
