The beautiful Georgian market town of Lymington, with its cosmopolitan shopping and picturesque harbour, is within a few minutes of flat walking from the property. Also, within easy reach are the two large deep-water marinas and sailing clubs for which the town has gained its status as a world-renowned sailing resort, as well as an open-air seawater swimming pool that was built in 1833. Lymington has several independent shops including some designer boutiques and is surrounded by the outstanding natural beauty of the New Forest National Park. On Saturday, a market is held in the High Street. To the north is the New Forest village of Lyndhurst and Junction 1 of the M27 which links to the M3 for access to London. There is also a branch line train link to Brockenhurst Railway Station (approx. 5.5 miles) which gives direct access to London Waterloo in approximately 90 minutes.
The front door leads into the entrance hallway with stairs to the first floor and door to the generous reception room, which leads into the dining room. A wooden parquet floor runs through the hallway and living room and is currently carpeted. There is a cloakroom and a separate generous under stairs storage cupboard. The living room is spacious with a large bay window to the front aspect and a wide arch through to the dining room. A focal point is provided by the fireplace, fitted with an electric coal effect fire and having an attractive marble surround. From the dining room, sliding glazed double doors lead into the conservatory and a further door leads to the kitchen. The conservatory has doors to the private west facing rear garden and to the kitchen. The kitchen is newly fitted with ample modern white storage cupboards and wooden work surface space above. There is space for an upright fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. A newly fitted oven with hob above finishes this well-planned room.
The first floor landing has an airing cupboard and houses the gas fired boiler. There are three double bedrooms. Bedroom one has a new shower cubicle as well as ample fitted wardrobes. Bedroom two enjoys a wall of fitted wardrobes and furniture and along with bedroom three is served by the ndwly fitted family bathroom, which has a shower fitted above the bath, low level WC and wash hand basin. The loft hatch is located on the landing leading to a storage area.
A pathway leads to this private mews of neo-Georgian homes where an arch within an attractive mature hedge leads to the front garden and path to the front door. The front east facing garden is mainly laid to lawn interspersed with flower beds. The rear west facing garden is walled and very private with an arched gate to the rear and to the parking and garage in a nearby block. The rear garden is laid to lawn with a terrace from the conservatory and a range of shurbs, a very sheltered and tranquil area from which to enjoy alfresco dining.
Living in Lymington
This vibrant and picturesque Georgian market town, positioned between the Solent, Lymington River and the New Forest, has been a massive draw for many people over the years.
It has always attracted ‘yachties’ as it’s considered the UK’s sailing capital with its boatyards, marinas and sailing clubs. It is also popular with families and retirees escaping London and the Home Counties in search of a better quality of life, often light-heartedly referred to as ‘Richmond by the Sea’. It’s also the choice for many in the New Forest who are considering downsizing, but want to remain in the area.
Lymington is a lively hub. It has a very distinctive centre with many independents (such as Elliotts of Lymington for designer fashion) as well as a strong smattering of top quality names (including Musto and Waitrose). A tasty range of eateries includes cafes, pubs and restaurants – check out two good tapas bars, Elderflower on Quay Hill (the chef is ex-Chewton Glen) and stylish Stanwells House Hotel. And every Saturday the High Street is taken over by a proper, old-fashioned market with everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to flowers and plants, fashion to fishing equipment, and vintage collectables to artisan food producers.
Property ranges from elegant period townhouses in the town centre to big family homes down leafy lanes ‘South of the High Street’ and new waterside development.
