This charming period cottage has been carefully updated and beautifully decorated to provide very comfortable year round accommodation as well as providing the perfect setup as a holiday home. The front door opens into a bright sitting room with a bay window, cast iron feature fireplace and wooden floors which extend throughout the ground floor accommodation. Beyond the sitting room is a superb kitchen / dining / family room with fully glazed sliding doors to the garden. Work surfaces run the entire length of the room providing ample preparation space, space for a range cooker and the tastefully painted fitted cupboards offer excellent storage. There is room for a family dining table and the garden end of the room works beautifully as a further sitting area with lovely views over the garden.

On the first floor are two double bedrooms. The bedroom to the front of the house has a delightful bay window and the rear master bedroom overlooks the garden as well as having a range of built in cupboards. There is a beautifully presented family bathroom with freestanding bath and separate shower.

The top floor is reached via a turning staircase that leads to a bright dual aspect room that is perfect as either a work from home study or third bedroom and enjoys glorious southerly views towards the Isle of Wight

The house is situated approximately 150 yards from the centre of Milford on Sea, a delightful and thriving coastal village with a pretty village green surrounded by independent shops, cafes, a deli, a wine bar and a superb selection of restaurants. The beach, a level half mile walk away, has beautiful views of the Isle of Wight and The Needles and offers the perfect spot for swimming or the start of glorious coastal walks to the east and west. The New Forest national park lies to the north and offers wide open spaces for walks and cycle rides. Trains are direct from Brockenhurst station (8 miles) in approximately 1h 45m.

There is a long rear garden accessed from the kitchen / family room which has a terraced area immediately adjacent to the house which is ideal for outside meals. Steps rise from this area to a long garden that is mostly laid to lawn with a shed at the far end. The property has a pedestrian right of way through the next door garden to provide side access via an alleyway to the road. There is on street parking on Keyhaven Road.

Living in Milford on Sea

Milford on Sea is currently a property hot spot. It is one of the last remaining seaside villages in Hampshire and is delightfully picturesque with a proper village green at its centre. This green is often the focus for popular village events such as maypole dancing and the annual food festival and is fringed by a range of independents (including antiques shops, butcher’s, chemists and greengrocer’s). Recently Milford has developed something of a reputation as a foodie destination with its collection of tea rooms, bistros, wine bar, fish and chips and specialist fish restaurant, plus more.

This is a vibrant village with a friendly and lively community, and appeals to both young families (the primary school has been rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted) and older couples looking for somewhere on the coast to relax. The old-fashioned seafront stretches from Hurst spit and Keyhaven nature reserve in the east towards Christchurch Harbour to the west, and enjoys lovely views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight and the Needles.

A good mix of properties includes striking contemporary seafront homes and cliff top apartments with big sea views, quaint terraced old fishermen’s cottages and some substantial 1920s and 1930s Ravenscroft arts and crafts influenced homes in and around Barnes Lane.
