The house is set back from Whitby Road and occupies an imposing position on the edge of this highly sought after coastal village being a short walk from the safe swimming beaches and a 5 minute walk from the village green. Milford on Sea is ideally positioned to enjoy both the New Forest and stunning coastal walks. There is a long beach just to the south of the property and the open Forest to the north of the village offers superb walks and bike rides. Milford itself is a thriving village with many independent shops and cafes as well as numerous excellent bars, restaurants and pubs around the village green. The Georgian market town of Lymington, some 3 miles away, offers a wider range of shops and facilities that cater for most daily requirements and there are world renowned sailing and water sports facilities at both Lymington and the nearby coastal hamlet of Keyhaven. There are direct trains to London Waterloo from Brockenhurst Station taking approximately 90 minutes.

Brick pillars flank the electric wrought iron entrance gates with separate pedestrian. The large gravel driveway extending to the front and side of the house leads to the attached double garage with under croft for additional storage. To the immediate rear of the house are two al fresco entertaining terraces and then an attractive meandering stone pathway leads through the beautiful lawned rear garden to the painted wooden studio/office with light and power. The garden is mainly laid to lawn with a range of landscaped areas and mature planting providing a high degree of privacy. The garden continues down a few steps to a large area of lawn with excellent screening to the boundaries and where there is another wooden building, formerly stables with light and power. This area of the garden would be an ideal location for a swimming pool.

A welcoming entrance hallway with high ceiling, archways, wall-panelling and wooden flooring leads to the turning staircase and to an open area where there is room for a piano or desk. There is a generous cloakroom and bespoke arched wooden glazed doors to the stunning Raynsford hand painted solid wooden kitchen. Integrated appliances comprise a Siemens Pyrolytic fan oven, combi oven with microwave, induction hob, warming drawer and a Neff integrated dishwasher. Ample work surface is topped with white granite and a large central island has a breakfast bar. The room is open to the spacious dining area with glazed double doors leading to the raised al fresco dining terrace and gardens. There are two fine reception rooms to the front of the house with large bay windows fitted with plantation shutters. Both rooms have attractive fireplaces. The formal sitting room has an open fireplace. There are fine fitted shelves incorporating the TV to the family room. New cast iron feature radiators have been fitted throughout the house.

The first floor comprises the master bedroom suite with large bespoke dressing room fully fitted with wardrobes, a dressing island and shelves, there is also a generous en-suite shower room. There are two further large double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, one bedroom is being utilised as a library with fully fitted book shelves. There is a further double bedroom, currently used as a study and a large airing cupboard.

The second floor comprises three further rooms and a family bathroom with shower above the bath and a Jack and Jill arrangement of doors to allow access directly from the double bedroom and from the landing. The current owners have removed a wall to create an open plan sitting room. However, this could be easily reinstated if required to create additional bedrooms. There are two large walk in storage cupboards and a loft access hatch.

Annexe: There is independent access along a pleasant gravel pathway with some planting to a spacious one double bedroom flat with adjacent bathroom and large bright sitting room having three windows overlooking the lovely gardens. The kitchen/dining room has a range of fully fitted storage cupboards and space and plumbing for appliances. There is a porch linking the flat to both the gardens and the main house.

Living in Milford on Sea

Milford on Sea is currently a property hot spot. It is one of the last remaining seaside villages in Hampshire and is delightfully picturesque with a proper village green at its centre. This green is often the focus for popular village events such as maypole dancing and the annual food festival and is fringed by a range of independents (including antiques shops, butcher’s, chemists and greengrocer’s). Recently Milford has developed something of a reputation as a foodie destination with its collection of tea rooms, bistros, wine bar, fish and chips and specialist fish restaurant, plus more.

This is a vibrant village with a friendly and lively community, and appeals to both young families (the primary school has been rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted) and older couples looking for somewhere on the coast to relax. The old-fashioned seafront stretches from Hurst spit and Keyhaven nature reserve in the east towards Christchurch Harbour to the west, and enjoys lovely views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight and the Needles.

A good mix of properties includes striking contemporary seafront homes and cliff top apartments with big sea views, quaint terraced old fishermen’s cottages and some substantial 1920s and 1930s Ravenscroft arts and crafts influenced homes in and around Barnes Lane.
