A Spitfire flypast will help mark the long-awaited return of the Ellingham Show for its 75th anniversary this Saturday 13th August.
This very popular local event that originated back in 1947 will be held on the grounds of Somerley Park, near Ringwood.
Having been cancelled in 2019 due to heavy rain and wind, Covid-19 restrictions put paid to it in both 2020 and 2021.
Incredibly the Ellingham and Ringwood Agricultural Society is an entirely volunteer-led charity and they stage the event to make donations to local good causes. The last show in 2018 resulted in a whopping £30,000 being donated to several charities.
Chair Steve Thompson said: “We’ve worked really hard not just to make a comeback but to have a celebration, and hopefully one of our best shows since 1947”
“In addition to new acts in the main ring, as well as old favourites and a wide mix of shopping stands around the showground, we’ve added more attractions for children and changed the boundary to the horse show rings, which will enable our visitors safely to watch more of the horse events from the main show area.
“We’ll also be giving all our visitors the opportunity to thank all those who cared and looked out for us during these last three years.”
The main ring will host a parade of thanks by key workers from all walks of life, representing those who have kept working for people and their loved ones throughout the pandemic.
Visitors are invited to bring picnics or sample a range of refreshments available on-site, including two Hall and Woodhouse bars and enjoy three live bands across the day.
Mr Thompson added: “This show could not run without the support of the many individuals, businesses and organisations who have been supporting us behind the scenes, enabling us to bounce back this year.”
A fabulous day out for all the family, come and join the fun at Somerley Park on August 13th. Find out more and buy your tickets online at www.ellinghamshow.co.uk
